    Report on 2017 West Coast Elite Hawaii Showcase

    The third annual West Coast Elite Hawaii Showcase was held Sunday, June 11th at St. Louis High School in Honolulu under the direction of Ryan Silver and Alan Akina. Here is a report on the event.

    Top Prospects:  (* indicates highest consideration)

    5’11'' CG/ SG Jaymond Agdinaoay of Leilehua HS 2018

    Active combo guard with a nice motor. Pushes the break and makes plays in transition (finishes well and has a nice floater). Shoots it fairly well and can get to the basket on the drive.

     

    5’9'' PG Kawika Akina of Pleasant Grove HS (UT) 2019

    Competitive one man with some skills. Good ball handler, pushes the break, makes plays in transition. Can run a team.

    5’10'' CG Cole Arceneaux of Punahou HS 2018

    Combo guard who runs the floor real well. solid ball handler and passer, does see the floor and is effective in transition (finishes well). Has a nice floater drive.

    Report on 2017 Bay Area Memorial Day Classic

    The seventh Annual Bay Area Memorial Day Classic was held May 27-29 at Jamtown in Oakland and Ultimate Fieldhouse in Walnut Creek. 80 teams in four divisions (17U, 16U, 15/16, 15U) participated. Here is a report on the event. Players are listed alphabetically by last name.

    Top Prospects: (* indicates highest consideration for this category)

    6’2 SF Enrique Aguirre of San Leandro HS 2020 (Oakland Rebels 16u)

    Nice (set) shooter with 3 range, has a decent floater, can handle and pass it, decent rebounder. Plays hard all the time.

     

    6’5 SF Michael Anderson of John H Pitman HS 2018 (Stanco Stampede 17u)

    Runs the floor well. moves well without the ball, has a nice middle game. Solid driver, good motor.

     

    5’9 PG Calvin Augusta of Cordova HS 2018 (Smooth)

    Athletic one-man with nice burst-speed. Has a nice mid-range game, effective penetrator. Capable defender.

     

    6’3 SG Cameron Ba of St. Joseph- Norte Dame HS 2018 (Team Arsenal 17u Black)

    Runs the floor well, can handle and pass it. Can make plays in transition. Shoots it ok with 3-point range.

     

    6’8 PF Jaxson Baker of Brophy Prep (AZ) 2018 (Powerhouse Hoops 17 Black)

    Stretch 4-man with a nice (3-point range) shooting touch. Can score inside and out. Shows ability to dribble operate on the block and has a nice jump hook. Decent ball handler, passes it well.

    *6’0 CG Robby Beasley of Dublin HS 2020 (EWE 15 Nor Cal)

    Selected as MVP of the 15/16 Division. Athletic and talented, has a motor. Attacks in transition and makes a lot of plays. Good passer who creates scoring opportunities for others. Shoots it fairly well with 3 range and is a real good driver. Bright prospect!

    6’2 SG Jimmy Beltz of Elliot Christian HS 2017 (JT Elite)

    Excellent shooter with deep 3-point range. Capable ball handler, pulls up well in transition.

    6’4 CG Ian Burke of Brophy Prep (AZ) 2018 (Powerhouse Hoops 17 Black)

    Confident ball handler, real good passer. Sees the floor well and is an effective playmaker in transition. Good shooter with 3-point range.
